The Rev. Chuck Culpepper has been the Vicar of St. Alexis since its founding. Chuck is a native of Meridian, Mississippi. He attended Millsaps College and the University of Mississippi School of Law prior to going to seminary at the Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, Texas. Following seminary, he served for three years at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Meridian, and then for seven years in the diocesan office as Canon for Youth and Young Adult Ministries. He is married to Katherine Culpepper and has one son, Andy.
St. Alexis was started at the direction of Bishop Gray with the mission of providing a new way of being the church. We work to live into that mission with God’s help by seeking to remove many of the invisible barriers that make attending church difficult for many. We are a Christian community that is informal, faithful, and open to new ideas and new people. We pride ourselves on welcoming all who come in our door with open arms and hearts. We also believe that to be the church, we must go out of those same doors, spreading the good news of God’s love by word and deed. The St. Alexis community is also marked by laughter and fun, as we serve God by loving and serving each other.
